About one-third of top websites restrict their users’ legal right to sue if something goes wrong, I found in this story for The Upshot at The New York Times. This story combines traditional human-sourced reporting with data analysis from data I gathered via web scraping.
This is an example of what I hope the Future of News might entail: journalists gathering their own data, when necessary, instead of being limited only to anecdotes or government- and PR-driven data.
