I built the website for the new New York Times section called The Upshot. The section front was at the time the only New York Times sectionfront that allowed seamless integration of interactive graphics with traditional text and photo content. Along with graphics, the section front and its article pages emphasize authors’ voice and the section’s bloggy tone.

The site is built in PHP and JavaScript, using Backbone.js and various homegrown Times frameworks.

Along with this story, I’m one of the few journalists to write the code that displays my own story.
