Facebook banned discriminatory job ads. But it continued selling them.

Yes, it does.

I traced the history of allegations that Facebook enables potentially-illegal discrimination by selling ads for jobs, housing, credit and other services that exclude people by age, gender or race – either by the advertiser’s choice or the working of Facebook’s algorithms. More than a year after Facebook settled a series of lawsuits hoping to end this practice, I found an example.

As this story went to press, Facebook removed some of the ad targeting categories that were used for racially-discriminatory ads.
