To help my colleagues cover IPO filings, I built a system to compare the Risk Factors section of Lyft’s just-released S-1 to the Risk Factors sections of annual reports of S&P 500 companies. The system spits out words that occur far more often in Lyft’s filing than in those of other firms. Some of these are obvious, like “rider”, but others show what’s unique about Lyft: “independent contractor” or “autonomous vehicles”.
We wrote it up here.
We reprised the methodology for Uber’s IPO filing.
