I built extensive databases of social media posts by the various candidates and major figures of the 2016 presidential election, from back when we thought Jeb Bush was a relevant figure through to the orange-and-blond end. This database utilized my Stevedore search framework. Data was loaded with custom scrapers and a modified version of the Politwoops program. I collected data from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

I also separately built a system to automatically archive the candidates’ Snapchat posts. I don’t want to describe the methodology here (for fear that it’d get cut off), but let’s just leave it at “delightfully jerry-rigged”.
